올해는 우리교회가 40주년을 맞는 해입니다. 40년(일)은 특별한 의미를 갖습니다. 모세는 미디안 광야에서 40년을 보낸 후 이스라엘을 애굽에서 구원했고, 이스라엘은 40년 광야 생활을 마친 후 가나안에 들어갔고, 엘리야는 40일 동안의 고된 행군으로 호렙 산에 이른 후, 새로운 사역을 시작했습니다. 그리고 예수님은 40일 금식 후 사역을 시작하셨습니다. 하나님은 당신의 사람들이 40년, 혹은 40일을 보낸 후 새로운 일을 시작하게 하셨습니다.
This year is the 40th anniversary of our church. Forty years or days is very meaningful in the Bible. After Moses spent forty years in the desert, he saved Israelite people from Egypt. Israel went into Canaan after wandering in the wilderness for forty years. Elijah began his new ministry again after walking for forty days to reach Mount Sinai. And Jesus also started His ministry after fasting for forty days. In many ways, God let His people begin new ministries after forty years or days.
우리 교회는 올해 40주년을 맞습니다. 40주년의 특별한 의미를 품고 “새로운 시작”이라는 표어로 한 해를 시작합니다. 지나온 40년도 귀한 시간이었습니다. 하나님께서 행하신 많은 간증이 있었습니다. 홍해가 갈라지기도 했고, 마귀의 유혹을 이기기도 했으며, 질병을 치유받기도 했습니다. 하지만 하나님은 이후로 더 놀라운 일들을 행하실 것입니다. 40년 주년을 맞는 우리의 큰 소망은 다음 세대와 함께 교회를 세워가는 것입니다. 이제 우리의 사명은 복음 안에서 유대인과 이방인이 하나 되는 교회를 세워가는 것입니다. 그것이 한인교회의 비전이며, 선교적 사명에 대한 응답이고, 다음 세대를 품는 것입니다. 여기에 English ministry 또한 매우 큰 의미를 갖습니다. 이 비전을 위해 다음 세대가 교회의 중심으로 더 깊이 들어와야 합니다. 이 소망을 품고, 시대를 밝히는 건강한 교회로 세워져 갈 것을 믿습니다.
The Church welcomes its fortieth anniversary. Embracing the meaning of 40, we start this year with the motto "Begin Anew." The last 40 years was very precious. We witnessed God at work. We saw that the red sea was divided, won the devil's deceit and were healed from our diseases. God, however, will work much more wonderful things for our church. Our great hope for our 40th anniversary is to build the Church together with the next generation. Our mission now is to have the Church to be one between Jews and Gentiles in the Gospel. This is the vision of the Korean immigrant church, the answer of the missional calling and going together with next generation. In this way English ministry is very meaningful. For this vision the next generation should come closer into the center of the church. We believe that the hope lies in the Church and that the Church will continue to shine in this age.
