We welcome native speakers of Korean to attend our first meeting of “Korean Corner” on Friday June 14th, 3:00pm at the International Center. The idea is to create a community of intermediate and advanced Korean speakers to socialize and explore Korea-related topics (culture, politics, etc.) every two weeks. We want to bring together those who were once fairly proficient but need a boost to revive their rusty Korean skills with those with native ability. At this first gathering, we will get to know one another and exchange ideas about how to organize this community and fun activities. Details such as when and where to meet, how often, and whether to split the meetings into Korean-only and English-only times to benefit both Korean and English native speakers will be discussed.

So far, the “rusty” set includes an anthropologist who did fieldwork in South Korea, an instructional technology doctoral student who studied Korean at Yonsei, and an architect who wants to recover the Korean she learned growing up in a Korean American household.
